| Dr Duncan Curley is a solicitor and the founder of Innovate Legal. He obtained his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at University College, London in 1992, before qualifying as a solicitor in 1995. He was formerly a partner in the intellectual property department of a major U.S. law firm. Duncan founded Innovate legal in June 2007. He represents clients across the full range of intellectual property rights including patents, trade marks, designs, copyright and trade secrets. |
Garry Mills is a solicitor and Head of Trade Marks and Brands at Innovate Legal. He qualified in 1994 and spent over 14 years in the IP department of a magic circle law firm. Garry has considerable experience of conducting IP disputes as well as advising on licensing and other commercial agreements. His practice has a particular emphasis on brand protection, enforcement and exploitation – trade- marks, passing-off, anti-counterfeiting measures and domain name issues, copyright and designs. He also has significant experience of advising on and litigating general commercial disputes. |

| Samantha McBain is a Consultant to Innovate Legal. Samantha is leading Innovate Legal’s initiatives into alternative funding arrangements for commercial court cases. Samantha graduated in Law at Cambridge University. She qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and specialised in commercial dispute resolution, working in London and Hong Kong for a premier City law practice and latterly for a US law firm. Samantha has expertise in a broad range of commercial disputes including High Court and County Court litigation, mediation and international arbitration. |
Dr Amanda Easey qualified as a solicitor in 2005 at a major U.S. law firm. She has experience of a broad range of intellectual property related matters, covering both litigation and commercial agreements (non-contentious matters). Before becoming a solicitor, she practised as an NHS hospital doctor in London. She completed her medical training at Oxford University and Imperial College, London, and has research experience in the fields of electrophysiology and virology. |

| Simon joined Innovate Legal when the firm was founded in 2007 and is Company Secretary. He has responsibility for Innovate Legal’s website, publications, seminars and external events. He is the member of the litigation team responsible for liaising with the court. |
Rupal Patel joined Innovate Legal in 2008 as a solicitor. She specialises in brands and advertising with a particular interest in the protection and exploitation of IP rights in the fashion and luxury goods sectors. Rupal is presently on maternity leave. |

| Fred Pearson is a patent and trade mark attorney. He has worked in the field of intellectual property for over 40 years, the majority of that time having been spent in industry. Fred was Head of Intellectual Property at ICI. He has extensive experience of all aspects of corporate intellectual property practice, including intellectual property management and strategy development. Fred recently consulted for an international law firm on patent filing and pan- European patent litigation strategies. |
Shamnad Basheer is a consultant to Innovate Legal. On graduating from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, Shamnad joined New Delhi IP law firm, Anand and Anand, before entering academia. Shamnad is now Ministry of HRD Chaired Professor of Intellectual Property Law at the National University of Juridical Sciences in Calcutta, India. He is also the founder of SpicyIP, a blog dedicated to IP news and cases from India. |
